New Target Redesigns Eisenhower Partnership Web Site

New Target launched a redesigned site today for the Eisenhower Partnership, a public/private partnership committed to promoting economic growth and quality of life in Alexandria's Eisenhower Valley. The site will serve not only as an information resource for existing partnership members, but through a compelling and informative "Flash" movie and engaging images, as a recruitment tool for businesses considering relocation to the Alexandria area. Powered by New Target's "Page Updater" and "Calendar" system, the Eisenhower Partnership staff is able to keep the site's content up to date in house without any special software or any HTML programming.

New Target Selected to Develop World's First Visual Search Engine

New Target has been awarded a contract by Rosetta Holdings, LLC to develop the world's first visual search engine. It will be used to power a site for the online antique furniture marketplace. Using image chips, site visitors will be able to describe a piece of furniture by visual characteristics and search for matches with similar characteristics posted at the site. New Target President Named to First Night Alexandria Board of Directors

New Target president, Laura Machanic, was named to the Board of Directors of First Night Alexandria, an annual community-based New Year's Eve celebration that occurs in Old Town Alexandria. After a year of not producing the event, First Night Alexandria is back and stronger than ever. The event drew more than 7,000 people to Alexandria for the December 31, 2002, celebration. New Target launches the first web site for The National Council on Folic Acid

New Target launched the first web site for The National Council on Folic Acid (NCFA) today. The goals for the new site are to increase awareness of the benefits of Folic Acid and promote the members of the council. Additionally, NCFA wanted a site that their staff could easily maintain in-house. To meet this goal, New Target implemented syndicated news headlines that are pushed to the site, as well our own "News" and "Calendar" content management modules which provide NCFA with the ability to easily add, edit and delete members' news and events. A third content management module allows NCFA to maintain the informative content throughout the site, including their membership listings and both Spanish and English web resources. The January 16, 2003 Alexandria Gazette Packet features an article on the web log, or online journal, hosted by New Target president Laura Machanic from the Nobel Peace Prize presentation. Ms. Machanic had the following to say about her "blogging" experience: "I didn't want to be just a spectator, so I decided to do a daily blog of my experiences. It was really great. People would write back with all sorts of questions about the event and the history of the Prize," Machanic said.

New Target Launches Redeveloped Site for Real Estate Leader

New Target technically redeveloped the web site of the Mark Winkler Company, a premiere real estate developer and property manager in the Washington, D.C. area. While maintaining the sophisticated and tightly-designed look and feel of the site, New Target significantly improved accessibility, search engine optimization, and the ease with which simple site updates can be made. The redevelopment effort reduced download size by two-thirds and eliminated the need for more than 4,000 image files, yet every page of the site retains its original appearance. Overall download time was improved by over 60%, saving over 2 hours of load time for users on 28.8 modems if viewing the whole site. New Target hosted a client lunch and seminar on Web Site Usability. With guest speakers Cia Romano of Interface Guru and Dr. Theo Mandel of Interface Design & Development, the seminar focused on how to combine style with function to create sites that anticipate what the visitor will want to do at the site and make it easy for them to accomplish their tasks. More than 35 attendees were charged with the task of performing their own basic testing in-house to determine the usability of their sites.
