an initiative started by the National Association of Public Child Welfare
Administrators. The web site contains the first national standard of

performance in fourteen critical areas and provides a roadmap from which
agencies can maximize their performance, innovation and evolution.
The site houses a searchable database of resources, including templates,
guides and tools, available to provide guidance for PPCWG’s audiences of state
and local public agency leaders, child welfare researchers, and academicians. In addition to a robust Content Management System,

New Target Chosen by the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) |
|
The U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF), a government entity created by Congress to provide data and insights into the dimensions and impact of religious repression and intolerance in countries worldwide, has chosen New Target to redevelop its web site, www.uscirf.gov, to serve as a strategic communications platform for the Commission. The Commission’s leadership envisions a more content-driven web site with a “news industry” style of content presentation, delivery, and dissemination to its audiences. The redesign will not only serve this vision but also take advantage of new and emerging web technologies, up-to-date design, content presentation, and usability standards.
USCIRF’s central voice of the organization is the annual publication and distribution of the USCIRF Annual Report. This report is a high visibility publication that is distributed to the White House and President of the United States, Members of Congress, the State Department, and various government organizations and officials. Making this content front and center will be a pivotal goal of the redesign.
USCIRF also seeks the capability to administer and manage its site content, photos, and media files on a daily basis; this is a key component of the “news style” type of content strategy. In order to accomplish this strategy, the site’s content management system, modules, tools and components need to be easily used and administered by USCIRF staff.
To respond to these needs, New Target will provide the following services:
- Restructuring of Information Architecture
- Redesign of Web Site Graphics
- Implementation of the Joomla 1.5 Content Management System (CMS)
- Implementation of CMS modules and Interactive Features (i.e. Photo gallery, RSS, Calendar)
- Content Migration of more than 2,000 pages
- Hosting of the Web Site
- Continued Technical Support for USCIRF’s in-house web staff
Longer term, USCIRF will work with New Target on an ongoing basis to provide support and technical guidance for USCIRF’s in-house webmaster. Stay tuned as we make progress with revitalizing USCIRF’s web presence and helping them provide up-to-date information to its web site users.

STPI Selects New Target to Build New Online Community |
The Institute for Defense Analyses (IDA) is a non-profit corporation that administers three federally funded research and development centers to assist the United States government in addressing important national security issues, particularly those requiring scientific and technical expertise. The Science and Technology Policy Institute (STPI), a Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC) of IDA, chose New Target to help them create a new web site and the related community for the Science of Science Policy entity.
The strategic focus of the web site will be creating a more community-focused site with registered community users. Certain pages and content of the web site will be available for public consumption and viewing, but the site will also have a section which will require login-access for a number of users. The web site will serve as a repository for data, documents, research papers, as well as enable discussion and communication tools for the communities of users. STPI and New Target anticipate growth in the community of web site users; therefore, the web site will be designed and developed with scalability for the future.
The STPI community currently has an active listserv but little else in the way of community involvement. In order to stimulate interest in the site’s content and in the overall community activities, the new site will feature a variety of interactive features:
• Creation of Groups/Members Only Sections
• Commenting, Ranking and Rating of Content and Documents
• Polling & Surveying
• Blogs
• Online Discussion Groups
• Wikis
• Community Calendars
• Messaging and Social Streams
• Rich Media and Video
• File Sharing
• Search
• RSS subscriptions
In the end the goal is to bring together thought leaders in the academic and Federal science policy worlds, as well as other interested parties, in order to share knowledge and create efficiencies in the research and science policy processes. Ultimately, this should mean that Federal research funding does more and goes farther than ever before.
Stay tuned for updates as we make progress with the development of this exciting new site.

New Target Launches New Site for The Order of St. John |
|
May 2009 saw the launch of the new web site for The Order of St. John (www.saintjohn.org). The site features a fresh new design created by New Target, and it is supported by New Target's custom content management system. New Target also created an email template that echoes the new design; this will let St. John present a unified look across all communication platforms.
Presently the CMS controls content and password protection (Members Only) features. In the coming months St. John will work with New Target on a Phase 2 that will incorporate an online gift shop, a robust events registration and management operation, an interactive Member Directory, and customizable Event Registration and Donation forms.
The organization has the full name of The Priory in the United States of America of The Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem. They are one of eight Priories of a historic, chivalric and charitable Order dating back to the Crusades. The Order is steeped in colorful ritual and tradition – and yet is very modern in its desire to help the next generation in the Holy Land. St. John's members, who vow to prevent and treat sickness and suffering, have raised millions of dollars for The St. John of Jerusalem Eye Hospital. The Hospital, which every year treats over 90,000 patients, is located in Jerusalem, where the Order began. Through their support of the Hospital and its outreach programs, and especially now with the new web site, St. John's members link the past to the present.

New Target Redesigns CTIA’s Primary Web Site |
|
After three years of
successful annual redesign partnerships for its two trade show web sites, CTIA-The Wireless Association ® invited New Target to redesign its main association
web site. The goal was to capture
the amazing possibilities made possible by mobile broadband technology. Broadband is the most exciting and
boundary-pushing aspect of wireless today, and CTIA wanted its main public site
to exhibit similar energy and functionality.
Based in part on a survey
(co-authored by New Target) conducted at the start of the project, CTIA limited
the text content on the homepage and focused more on a variety of interactive
Flash elements they can readily customize to highlight different focus
areas. This allows users of the site to
learn quickly about what is new and exciting in the wireless world, and it lets
CTIA expose site visitors to features, including multimedia programs, that were
buried and hard to find on the old version of the site.
New Target provided all design
and creative work plus integration of the design with CTIA's proprietary CMS
and all related special features development.
New Target worked with CTIA up through launch day to help ensure the
successful deployment of the new site.
CTIA now offers its web site
visitors a vibrant new site that is visually contemporary and user friendly,
with further enhancements now being planned!

New Target Launches Fairlabor.org; Site Revolutionizes FLA’s Workflow |
In December New Target supported strategic partner LeapFrog Solutions in the development and launch the new web site for LeapFrog’s client, Fair Labor Association (FLA). The site not only features a new design for FLA, but it introduces new functionalities that, taken together, radically reshape the way FLA conducts their business.
FLA worked with New Target to consolidate and re-work many disparate functions, and the processes are now online and easily accessible. After spending months developing new business processes for FLA, New Target brought online and streamlined processes that used to live in different places and in different offline formats. Tracking and updating work for FLA used to be a time-consuming and frustrating chore. With the new site, FLA has a “one stop shop” for its mission critical processes, including member registration and renewal, data reporting by members, and facility inspection & review reporting by FLA.
FLA continues to work with New Target to create further enhancements to its system, as the staff can now look beyond their day-to-day functions to a better future of productivity and efficiency.
See the new site at www.fairlabor.org.

New Target Creates Online RFP System for the Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR) |
|
The Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR) recently created a grants program to fund work for hidden collections and archives.
As part of this effort, CLIR sought to have institutions of higher education and organizations that hold mportant collections that are difficult or impossible to locate using finding aids submit proposals in response to an RFP CLIR will post to the web. The new system contains 3 parts:
1) A web-based interactive form to collect proposals in response to the RFP
2) An administrative control panel through which CLIR and its reviewers will manage and reviewthe proposal submissions to the posted RFP
3) An searchable public area of the CLIR web site to display all non-confidential informationgathered and generated from Part One of the responses
Realizing a web-based system would help to streamline the process, CLIR looked to New Target for help. New Target created an all-encompassing online solution for CLIR’s grants RFP process:
-
Grants applicants can submit their RFPs using an online application
- CLIR’s review panel can access the applications on the Web
- Via a back-end administrative panel, CLIR staff can manage each RFP
With this new system, applicants can now check the status of their RFPs online, reviewers can easily access and evaluate each request, and CLIR’s staff can effectively manage the process – all without paper!

CTIA Selects New Target to Create the Wireless 2009 Exhibition Site |
CTIA, The Wireless Association, has chosen New Target to create and help implement their new site for their Spring industry exhibition, Wireless 2009. This is the latest in a series of show sites, all created by New Target, to showcase the many benefits of attending the exhibition.
Each exhibition site seeks to raise the profile of the show while streamlining the registration process. A successful site helps visitors learn all about the show, so they have a superior show experience once the show time arrives. New Target is creating the new site based on the show’s theme “It’s a Mobile Life” which highlights the breadth of uses and applications for wireless around the world.
When complete, New Target expects the site to produce an increased number of registrations and a decreased number of public inquiries (traditionally fielded by CTIA staff). The implementation of a new, interactive “VISA Assistance Letter” should make attendance far easier for international guests.
The site launches in October, 2008, and the show runs April 1 – 3, 2009.
