Designer

Design for brands you know and nonprofit you love.

Are you a seasoned creative professional who can balance big-picture strategy with hands-on design? We’re looking for a Designer to join our team in Alexandria, VA or in Irvine, CA. This is a full-time, on-site role (three days a week in office). In this role, you’ll influence and execute creative strategy while also rolling up your sleeves to craft beautiful, effective designs. If you thrive in a collaborative, digital-first agency where creativity and client relationships go hand in hand, we’d love to talk.

You’ll be the bridge between our clients and our creative. One day you might be brainstorming a marketing campaign’s look and feel; the next day, you’re in Figma designing a website layout or polishing a print brochure in InDesign. You’ll work closely with designers, developers, marketers, and project managers to deliver integrated solutions. We value teamwork and can-do attitudes – ideas are shared freely, and everyone contributes to producing work that wows our clients.

What you need for this role

  • Hybrid skill set that blends approximately 70% design execution with 30% creative strategy– you can ideate a concept and also execute it flawlessly.
  • Excellent communication skills and client-facing savvy. You’re comfortable representing creative work on client calls, presenting concepts, and defending your design decisions with rationale.
  • 5+ years of experience in creative design roles, with a strong background in both strategy and hands-on design production across digital media.
  • Portfolio of diverse work demonstrating your experience designing websites, logos, digital ads, print collateral, and presentations (yes, even PowerPoint).
  • Expertise in design tools – especially Figma and Adobe InDesign – along with proficiency in the rest of Adobe’s Creative Suite.
  • Proficiency with office tools like Microsoft Office (especially PowerPoint for presentations) and collaboration platforms like Microsoft Teams.
  • Education in art, design, or a related field – a Bachelor’s degree is preferred, but your experience and portfolio are what truly matter.

What you'll be doing in this Role

  • Lead and execute creative projects – from initial concept through final production – for a variety of deliverables including websites, digital campaigns, print materials, and presentations.
  • Develop creative strategies and concepts that align with client goals, and translate abstract ideas into visual solutions and design themes for campaigns and projects.
  • Design hands-on: create wireframes, mockups, and final designs using Figma, InDesign, and other tools for both digital and print outputs, ensuring pixel-perfect (and printer-ready) results.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (designers, developers, marketers, project managers) to ensure cohesive project execution and that creative work is aligned with technical requirements and timelines.
  • Serve as the creative liaison to clients – participate in client meetings, present design concepts and prototypes, gather feedback, and refine work to exceed client expectations.
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously, keeping work on schedule and maintaining a high level of attention to detail and quality for every deliverable.
  • Champion a collaborative creative culture – bring fresh ideas to the table, stay on top of design trends, and inspire both the team and our clients with your passion for innovative design.
